Ibex
are one of the world's most magnificent and sought after trophies. They
inhabit the high mountains of Asia, Siberia, and Europe. The largest
trophies are taken in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which are among the
world's most primitive, unpopulated, and beautiful wilderness areas.
Although they rival any of the Mountain Sheep species in stature,
they have not yet been promoted or commercialized to the same extent.
Consequently, Ibex offer a terrific hunt value at a very reasonable price.
This will not last!!! Within the next few years the price for Ibex hunts
are likely to double, equaling those of most other Sheep hunts.
When, Where, and How
Season in Kyrgyzstan:
September 1-November 15 (with best
hunting September 10 to November 1)
Season in Kazakhstan:
August 15 to November 15 (also
best hunting September 15 to November 1)
Hunting Kazakhstan
Ibex hunts in Kazakhstan originate from the capitol city, Almaty. Almaty
is served by Aeroflot via Moscow, Turkish Airlines via Istanbul, or
British Airways via London.
Hunting Kyrgyzstan
Ibex hunts in Kyrgyzstan originate from Bishkek City. Bishkek is served by
Aeroflot and Turkish Airlines.
Travel to both cities is fairly routine and can be arranged online, or
through your travel agent. Upon arrival our clients are met by our
English/German speaking representative and are assisted with their
baggage, guns, and ammo, then expedited through customs. The customs
officers are very friendly and the entire procedure takes only minutes.
The drive to the hunting area is beautiful but tiresome; from 5 to 12
hours depending on the hunting area. The roads in this part of the world
are not what you are accustomed to, only paved about half way which makes
the going fairly slow. However the long drive allows clients to gradually
adapt to the altitude.
Our
Hunting Camps and Accommodations
The main camps are located in high mountain valleys at an approximate
elevation of 7,000 - 8,000 feet. Hunters and guides stay in yerts, the
traditional shelter of the Asian Steppes and mountains.
Yerts are large, handmade woolen (felt) tents, round in shape. They are
equipped with stoves that are kept stoked all night, regular sleeping cots
and tables and chairs. There are separate yerts for sleeping, dining and
one for sauna and shower. A field washer with hot water is also available.
Camps are kept clean, warm and comfortable but have no modern conveniences
( running water, flush toilets etc.). Spike camps, consisting of modern
mountain tents, are used often in to overnight when needed. Meals consist
of hot meals for breakfast and dinner, sandwiches, snacks and drinks for
lunch.
On the Hunt
Our guests will be up and breakfasted early, before light, and then start
out by 4X4 vehicle or horse, depending on the hunting area. The hunters
will travel the upper edges of the mountains glassing the hillsides for
trophies. Many Ibex are usually seen every day of the hunt. After locating
trophies the final stalk is on foot.
The Weather
Weather is usually very nice during the hunting season. It fairly dry with
daytime temperatures from 40 to 65 degrees, 30 to 40 degrees at night.

Asian
Elk and Ibex
Ask us about these great combination hunts!
Elk species circle the globe in the Northern Hemisphere. The Asian
species are very massive brothers to the North American variety. They
are very numerous and extremely large in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is over
one million square miles, a frontier half the size of the US with only
17 million people. Combined with the fact that the locals don’t have
access to 4 wheelers, planes and other forms of transportation, the
hunting pressure is very slight and trophies are very good. Both Ibex
and Elk are available from the same camps in the high mountains along
the Kazakhstan/China border.
